About makepicsmall

makepicsmall is a privacy-first image compressor. We think image tools shouldn't need your data to shrink a photo. That's the whole pitch.

Every other compressor we tried uploaded your images to a server somewhere, ran them through a tool you could just as easily run locally, and sent the result back with a tracker attached. We rebuilt that flow the way it should have been in the first place: the compressor (built on jSquash, which wraps the same mozjpeg, oxipng, and libwebp codecs the pros use) runs inside your browser as WebAssembly. Your files never touch our servers because there is no server for them to touch — makepicsmall is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages.

The result is fast (no round-trip to a server), safe (nothing to leak, because nothing was uploaded), and free (nothing to monetize, because we collect nothing). We hope it's useful.
